Human-Agent Negotiation League (HAN) 2026
Part of ANAC 2026 @ IJCAI-ECAI 2026, Bremen, Germany
This competition is over. HAN 2026 — the first full edition of the league after the 2025 pilot — concluded with the winner announcement at the ANAC 2026 Final Session on Thursday, August 20th, 2026 in Bremen, Germany. This page is a frozen archive of the final results. The current competition is HAN 2027.

Participants were challenged to build a negotiation strategy that uses the alternating offers protocol (AOP) augmented with text input/output to effectively negotiate with human subjects. Strategies had to be compatible with standard AOP but could use multi-modal communication to influence or inform the human negotiator. See the 2026 CFP and the 2026 tutorial for the rules that applied.

Finalists were evaluated against paid human negotiators recruited through Prolific, using the HANI web interface, over a balanced Latin-square schedule so every finalist faced a comparable mix of scenarios and partners. Two awards were given: individual advantage (the utility the agent secured for itself) and subjective evaluation (how the human partners rated the agent).

We thank all our participants — and our human negotiators — for their efforts. Agent source code and reports are available in the han-agents GitHub repository.
